We brought Sparky to the 2023 Porsche Werks Reunion again for the fourth year and gathered a third place trophy in our class of front-engine transaxle cars. It is great to be recognized for our efforts and to have such a great personality – Sparky – celebrated for being such a great guy! Other than some replica Fuchs and the retro plaid seats, Sparky is a plain-jane stock 1987 924S. However, people have come to know Sparky as his own personality. One conversation went like this…
- You’re that guy…the 944 guy from DeLand!
- Yea, I am Kevin Duffy. Nice to meet you!
- (Looking over at Sparky) Oh, my! Is that SPARKY?
- Yea, that’s him!
- WOW! I have to meet SPARKY. He’s just so cool…
And on from there. He seems to be growing his own fan club.
We were quite surprised that a few days ago, PCA dropped a video on YouTube describing the Werks Reunion, narrated by Vu Nguyen, Executive Director of PCA. In the video, he describes his favorite Porsches out of the hundreds that were on the judged field…and guess who made the cut? SPARKY!

If you watch the whole thing, you will see that if you missed the event, you missed a lot! And where were all the 944/924S/968 folks? Next year you need to put your car on the judged field and hang out with Sparky!
