Heritage Tour – PCA Event for Air-Cooled and Transaxles

April 8, 2023: Florida Citrus Region “Heritage Tour” featuring “older” Porsches including our front engine transaxle cars.  Join us!

The event is an annual affair where we get together and embark on a drive to celebrate the front engine transaxles and air-cooled Porsches.  Not a gimmick rally, just a tour that starts at the Oviedo Mall and ends at Gator’s Dockside in DeLand.  We will meander through some of the historical backroads of east central Florida with little tidbits and historical trivia along the way.

We will meet at the Oviedo Mall off SR 417 on Red Bug Lake Road for a 10 am driver’s meeting.  (For your GPS, put in 1700 Oviedo Mall Blvd, Oviedo, FL 32765)  Our route will take us northeast towards Volusia County, by a seaport, through an old country town, to the FIRST county seat of the county, through some areas that are famous (and even infamous) and finally to Gators Dockside in the south end of DeLand.  We have a special parking area reserved for our cars and a section of the restaurant just for us.  We will leave the mall in groups of no more than ten cars to keep everyone together, and everyone will have a sheet of instructions so no one will get lost!

You do NOT have to be a member of PCA or Florida Citrus Region to participate.  Register on ClubRegistration.net at https://clubregistration.net/events/signUp.cfm/event/13312 and mark your calendars to be there.  Registration slots are being reserved for “Heritage Cars” so we get first bite at the registrations!

Fun FactBetween 1976 and 1992, there were well over 300,000 924, 924S, and 944’s sold worldwide.  During that same period, Porsche produced just over 200,000 911’s for the worldwide market.  So to keep that ratio, we need THREE of our front engine transaxle cars in attendance for every two Heritage 911’s.  Get registered!

If you are not a member of the Porsche Club of America, consider joining today!  Dues are inexpensive and the benefits are through the roof!  We have been members for twenty-five years with our front engine transaxle cars, and we have a great time with autocross, HPDE, tours, rally and other events.  Come join in the fun!

AND we are planning our trip to Nelson Ledges in Ohio for 944Fest Labor Day Weekend.  Get the 944Fest Guidebook for Dummies here.  Look to 944Fest.com for registration starting around April 1.

AND we have Porsche Night at the ACE on Monday night, March 20 at the ACE Cafe in downtown Orlando starting at about 6 pm.  Bring on the TRANSAXLES!
