We are planning our 2021 924S944.com Calendar. We want to include photos from all over the world – 924, 924S and 944, outlaw, race cars or whatever.
The latest rescue story is a silver 924S that suffered a broken timing belt, then sat for over a year, partially disassembled.
944Fest 2020 is scheduled for September 18-20 at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia.
It does our collective hearts good to see this next generation becoming gear heads, especially Porsche gear heads, and extra special to make them front-engine water-cooled Porsche gear heads.
The planning and researching for an outstanding vacation is a big part of the process – and takes time, family conferences and some bargaining with each other. Who has the time for all that? Well, thank you COVID-19…we seem to have a little extra time with the family these days.
So is a running, driving car really a rescue? Yes and no. In this case, the car showed well with decent paint and interior, and seemed to run well. The bottom, however, was another story. That story unfolded on the lift.
The “stay home quarantine” has allowed us to catch up on our Porsche projects, as well as other projects around the house. So when this is over we will have running Porsches that are cleaned up and shiny with updated maintenance, ready to go. So what are we going to do?
Our journey started with the acquisition of our mint 1988 924S Special Edition. While the car is in great original condition including the original functioning Blaupunkt Sebring cassette radio, the front speakers weren’t working. Upon further investigation, the front speakers were completely deteriorated – the paper cone was no longer connected to the outside edge of the speaker. Replacement was needed to restore the cassette/radio to its former glory.
So what are we to do in the 924S944.com world? We may be in self-inflicted quarantine at home because there is no where to go and nothing to do. But remember that there are auto parts available online with delivery to your door. So here are some suggestions.

9224S944.com and the Nort Northam Collection participated in the Porsche Werks Reunion and the Amelia Island Cars and Coffee events in conjunction with the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance on the weekend of March 6-8, 2020.
Since our last entry, we have collected parts including “deferred maintenance” parts and interior trim. The car now has a rebuilt fuel system including new injectors, fuel filter, and new flex lines going to the fuel rail.
