Why You Need To Be A Member of the Porsche 924 Owners Club U.K.

We have been a member of the Porsche 924 Owners Club in the United Kingdom for a few years now and I continue to be impressed with this group of enthusiasts, their cars and their events.  If you own a 924 or a 924S, you need to join up with this bunch!

In Europe the 924 is called “924 2.0” and the 924S is called a “924 2.5.”  The 924S still has the “924S” markings, but reference to the “2.5” is pretty common.  The transition to the 944 and phasing out the 924 was a bit different across the pond – Porsche kept making the 924 2.0 past 1982 when the 924 was discontinued in North America.  Up through 1985 when VW/Audi stopped selling 2-liter engines to Porsche they turned out 924 2.0’s for the rest of the world.  They then got the 2.5 engine in the 924 for ’86, ’87 and ’88.  And the Brits LOVE the 924 and it shows in the Porsche 924 Owners Club.

So take a few minutes to look at their website https://porsche924.co.uk/  and think about joining up.  They publish a quarterly magazine and also publish a monthly newsletter that arrives via email.  These publications have event coverage as well as tech articles – lots of really good stuff.  Take a look at the February newsletter here. The dues are cheap – join us and our British friends!

After retiring from a career in Law Enforcement, Kevin Duffy turned his attention to one of his passions, Porsche 944's and 924S's. He owns 924S944.com LLC in DeLand, FL, rescuing and restoring forgotten Porsches, bringing them back to a useful life. He is especially interested in the rare-but-beautiful 924S Special Edition. He can be found at Porsche Club events, local Deland Area Cruisers events, and other car-related things including track days, tours and shows around the southeastern United States.
