Maybe Next Time…

We participated in a Florida Citrus Region PCA “Drive and Dine” event on Sunday, November 29 – The Hurricane Dockside Party to celebrate the end of the Florida Hurricane Season.  (Okay – any excuse is a good one!)  Anyway, the weather was perfect, there were lots of Porsches, and we had a great time.

We met up at Drivers Choice Motors in Longwood at their new location.  Drivers Choice specializes in service, upgrades and rebuilds of the newer Porsche models, including race and track-day prep.  Their staff of Porsche-trained technicians are specially qualified to do just about anything on your late-model Porsche, and their new facility is breathtaking.  Check them out.

Our route took us through some great roads, through Mount Dora, and ending up at the Hurricane Dockside restaurant on the edge of the Dead River in Tavares.  Seated on the river outside in 75-degree sunshine was great!  Food and service was wonderful, and a great time was had by all.

One note, though…our 1988 924S Special Edition was the only transaxle car in the event, and that is sad.  It drew a lot of attention with stories about how people used to have one, loved it, should have never sold it.  These are popular cars, and it was disappointing that there weren’t more transaxle participants.

Maybe next time…
