Well, it’s been confirmed that the property used by the ACE Cafe Orlando has been sold and the ACE Cafe is closing in the next week or so. That means that as of the first of June, the Ace will be closed. Permanently. And the building will be bulldozed to make room for a wonderful, stylish and absolutely necessary residential high-rise building. Yea…
So Porsche Night at the Ace is no more. Monday night, May 15, 2023 was the final Porsche Night at the Ace, and the huge parking lot was overflowing with Porsches of all designs. Knowing that it was the last, everyone tried to show up and no one wanted to leave.
Porsche Night at the Ace has been a staple of the Florida Citrus Region PCA for many years now. The third Monday night every month was so designated, and starting at sometime after 5 pm Porsches would start arriving with the early birds getting the best parking spaces.
Over a year ago, the club started designating a particular Porsche model as the “feature” each month with some questionable judges and awards provided to the top three cars. The featured model got the coveted parking spaces at the front of the lot. Even the transaxles got their own Porsche Night – the last one in January this year.
Okay – to be honest, the food wasn’t quite gourmet, but the Fellowship of the Porsche made up for it. A full bar, rock and roll music, great cars and great people made the Third Monday of the Month pretty special for us. In the past year, more and more 944’s, 924S’s, 931’s, 951’s, 968’s and 928’s showed up to join in the fun. “And a good time was had by all.”
Popular opinion says that the Demise of the Ace started when about a year or so ago, they stopped serving the delicious “Tater Tots” with their meals in the restaurant. No verification or evidence on that, but…just sayin’…
So the Ace is going away. But that doesn’t mean that Porsche Night is going away. Not by a long shot.
Florida Citrus Region is looking for a new venue for its monthly gathering. There are a few ideas, high-level talks are underway at undisclosed locations in pursuit of the perfect early-evening venue for the people and the cars. Look here for more information as it develops.

Well that is just so sad. I know how much you and your Porsche enthusiasts looked forward to this event. I wish you luck in arranging for a new locale to hold your event – and maybe they’ll serve Tater Tots!
