Here in Central Florida it is cold – for us. Temperatures rarely go below freezing, but this year Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be freezing at night and only in the 40’s during the day. Understand that we are not equipped for this!
So here is a Christmas story inspired from our own Sparky, our 87 Porsche 924S. Enjoy!
T’was the night before Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, except the damn mouse.
The stockings were hung from the mantle – no fear!
Above the gas fireplace we use twice a year.
Sparky was safely inside, tucked in tight,
‘Cause it’s not good to be out when it’s freezing at night.
And mom in her flannels and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap.
When out in the shop there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Looked out the window to the shop to be certain,
Put on my glasses and pulled open the curtain.
The lights on the shop lit the concrete in peace
Where several old Porsches sat freezing in place.
But next to the Porsches a figure could pick
I knew in a moment I’d found ol’ St. Nick.
A quick look around for his sleigh or his deer
But neither was found in the yard in the clear.
Then in the moonlight there was – could it be?
Santa was driving a Porsche I see!
A shiny red Porsche with spoiler and hatch
Fuchs and white striping down the side to match.
Squinting and thinking and peering for fun
Santa was driving a 951!
I grabbed for my robe and slid on some shoes
Out around the back to see what I could.
Got to the shop to see what Santa had done
As I rounded the corner the turbo was gone.
Into the shop I went with a flash
Clicked on the lights and tripped over the trash.
And there I found Sparky to see how he feels,
But something was different – look at the wheels!
In the second it seemed that Santa was there
He gave a nice gift then he left in a tear,
But Sparky was different and now he was cute
Each wheel was now changed to a replica Fuch!
Sparky was smiling and happy it seemed
With fancy new wheels and tires – he beamed!
And Santa came here to give Sparky a lift,
With this cold Central Florida Christmas gift.
Great job. Now I have a story for family and grandkids. Thanks Kevin. Merry Christmas
