The 2018 Festivals of Speed is at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando took place on SUNDAY, December 2 from 10AM until 4PM, and our own 924S – “Sparky” – was in the show with other Porsches as the Festivals celebrates Porsche’s 70th Birthday. He was in the company of Porsches from the fifties through today on the lawn outside the Ritz-Carlton.
From the Festivals of Speed Website: Showcasing both vintage and contemporary vehicles of all makes and models, the show field is diverse with hundreds of examples placed into an exquisite setting.
The perfectly manicured lawns of this magnificent property will play host to the world’s most exotic supercars, custom motorcycles, watercraft, and countless other unique and exciting vehicles.
I’m not sure where the 924S and 944 fits in this description, but I am going with “Unique and Exciting Vehicles.” That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Nort Northam of the Nort Northam Collection in Winter Park was been asked to assemble a history of Porsche for the display and celebration. In that group, our 924S has been selected to represent the 924/924S part of Porsche history, and to say the least, we are pretty proud of that fact.
Needless to say, there were no other Porsche 944, 924, 924S of 968’s in the show. Our own Sparky was displayed on the lawn with 911’s, Boxsters, Caymans, and their many variants. Oh, yea, and other classic supercars and sports cars. However, the focus was on Sparky. A variety of comments and questions went like this:
- “I had one of them in college…what a great car!”
- “What is that?”
- “I didn’t know there were any of these left…”
- “This one is in great condition – where did you find one so nice?”
- “I wish I had mine back – it was a wonderful car.”
- “Nothing like it. Great car…”
