Four Big Events Coming Up!

Just an announcement today of several events coming up in Central Florida and one in Amelia Island in the next few months.  Mark your calendar!

  • January 13, Saturday, 2024, 8-noon: Open House and HPDE Seminars at Zotz Racing in Orlando.

6625 Edgewater Dr, Orlando, FL 32810, This annual event is all about the track!  The morning is separated into two distinct classes.  The first is a presentation and answers to questions about HPDE for the “newbie” who wants to try out track day events but is lacking answers to questions before taking the leap and getting involved.  Kevin Duffy (me) will be doing that presentation.  Ron Zitza will take the more experienced HPDE and racing folks on a tour of the facilities at Zotz Racing and talk about data acquisition and more importantly what to do about that data once you have it.  Top that off with commercial vendors, food trucks, and lots of other experts to tell you all about it – and it’s free!  Need a new helmet or Hans?  Discovery Parts will be there to fit helmets and help you make the right decision on safety gear.  Also talk to representatives of Chin Track Days for information on their extensive track day program around the southeast and representatives from several Porsche Club regions who can talk about their HPDE and autocross programs.  And it’s FREE!

THIS WAS A GREAT EVENT!  You should have been there!

  • MOVED TO January 22, Monday night, 2024, 5:30-8 pm.  Porsche Night (featuring our transaxle cars) at Forward Slash, Winter Park.

Florida Citrus Region holds Porsche Night on the third Monday of each month at Forward Slash, 650 S Capen Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789, and January is TRANSAXLE NIGHT!  Bring your 924/S, 944, 968 and 928 to the event and maybe even win a prize!  Free to attend, park your transaxle car front and center and have it judged by a team of experts (chosen at random from the crowd.)  Shine it up and show it off!

  • January 20, Saturday, 2024, 3-6 pm.  Porsche visits the DeLand Area Cruisers for their monthly Cruise-In in downtown DeLand.

Every month the DeLand Area Cruisers have a hot-rod and custom car show in downtown DeLand, and for January they have invited the Florida Citrus Region Porsche Club and ALL our Porsches to join them!  (We usually have two or three 944’s there every month.)  We have room for 35 Porsches to join the 50-75 “cruisers” that normally show up for the day.  Situated in front of the new courthouse in downtown DeLand, the event has door prizes, a DJ, and lots of great people and cars.  Register your Porsche on ClubRegistration.net.  There is a $10 fee that will be donated to the DeLand Area Cruisers to help them with the costs associated with putting on these shows.

  • March 1, Friday, 2024, all day, the Porsche Werks Reunion at Amelia Island.

Each year at the famed Amelia Island Concours the Porsche Club of America holds its Porsche Werks Reunion, and registration opened TODAY.  It fills up quickly, and there are already six transaxle cars entered on the “judged field.”  This is a great annual event that gathers Porsches of every distinction in one place for a wonderful show.  Every year there are more and more of our transaxle cars represented on the field, but you have to pre-register to get your spot on the field.  Go to the website for more information and to register for the event.  Join me and Sparky on the judged field!

So now you have some things to do!  Let’s get together!
