924S944.com Is Getting New Quarters: UPDATE

8-26-19: Building is up, insulation is sprayed in and concrete floor is coated with grey stain.  Electric is this week, then inside walls!

Fourteen years ago we bought a house in southwest DeLand on 2.5 acres with the intent of building a shop/garage on the property next to the house.  Fourteen years ago.

They poured the slab on Friday.

By the end of September we will be moved out of our leased property in Orange City and into our new 2400 sf building 100 feet from the back door.  The metal building is 40 x 60, twelve foot side walls, and will be complete with spray-in insulation, OSB inside walls, a separate office space, two lifts, parts storage, LED lighting and air conditioning.  Yes, air conditioning.  I’m too old to be sweating in 100-degree humidity.

My current leased space is set up in such a way that I can only work on one project at a time, so waiting on parts or other stoppages actually stops everything.  The new building will fix that.  And the commute is about a hundred feet.

There is a lot to do in the next six weeks, and we have two road trips for Porsche Club activities during that time.  But that’s okay – the mission will be completed!

More to come!

  1. Kevin, having your shop in your own building with two lifts and A/C will be wonderful. Congratulations!
