Announcing the 924S944.com AX Cup for 2021

In conjunction with the Florida Citrus Region Porsche Club of America (Orlando), we are announcing an Autocross Series for 2021 for 924, 944, 924S and 968 cars.  Grouped into four classes, drivers will compete against each other throughout 2021 to win the 924S944.com Cup.

IMG_0030The Florida Citrus Region runs 6-8 autocross events each year in its own championship.  In 2021, the addition of the 924S944.com Cup will run in conjunction with the monthly FLC PCA autocross.  Competitors will earn points to be totaled at the end of year and the award of trophies for first, second and third place in four 944 classes.

Two classes will be separated by STOCK and PREPARED designations.  SA will be STOCK A CLASS with 924, 931, 924S, and normally aspirated 944’s.  PA will be those cars in the PREPARED class.  SB will be STOCK B CLASS with 951, 944S, 944S2 and 968’s.  928’s will also run in CLASS B.  PB will be PREPARED B CLASS cars.

So what is STOCK vs. PREPARED?  Stock is just what it sounds like – stock as delivered from the dealership when new.  Anything that is not as delivered will be considered PREPARED, including tires with UTOG ratings under 200, aftermarket shocks, bigger sway bars – you see where this is going.

autocross 944The Florida Citrus Region will be holding three autocross events for the remainder of 2020 – September 12 at the Orange County Convention Center, October 18 and November 15 at the Lake County Sheriff’s Department Training Center in Tavares.  Entry fee for September 12 is $50 with a $10 discount for pre-registration – but fees are paid at the event.  (There are two 944’s already entered.)  Register in advance at ClubRegistration.net (https://clubregistration.net/events/signUp.cfm/event/10894). Please note that the October and November dates may change due to COVID restrictions and space availability.  Keep a check on ClubRegistration.net for updates.

For these three events, the 2019 PCA Classification will be used to determine where you will run.  There are STOCK and PRODUCTION (PREPARED) classes for each group.  A full chart is found on the registration site, but here is the breakdown for our cars:

  • 76-82 924 2.0l: Stock 01 and Prod 01
  • 79-82 931: Stock 02 and Prod 02
  • 83-89 944: Stock 02 and Prod 02
  • 96-88 924S: Stock 02 and Prod 02
  • 87-95 928 and 928S: Stock 03 and Prod 03
  • 87-95 928 S4/CS/GT/GTS: Stock 03 and Prod 03

If you haven’t already joined the Porsche Club of America (PCA), we invite you to join our club. It only costs $46 a year. Our club’s tagline is  “It’s not just the cars, it’s the people”.  Here is a short video about PCA. https://www.pca.org/news/2016-09-13/video-its-not-just-cars-its-people.  Ready to join?  Follow this link https://www.pca.org/pca-membership-join-club-join-fun
